Welcome to the web pages for the Master course Communications Engineering at RWTH Aachen University. Here we would like to introduce you to the program, which gives excellent students from all over the world the opportunity to learn fundamentals and latest topics in digital communications, such as chip design, signal processing algorithms, protocols, network aspects, and radio transmission.

| October 9th, 2009 |
An information event will be held today for the first-semester MCE students by the coordinator at the IND at 5:00 p.m. After the event, a Welcome Party for all new Master students of the faculty will take place in the Villa Monheim, Muffeter Weg 3 (faculty building next to the IND).
On October 12th, 2009 the winter semester 2009/10 will officially start. During the first three days, orientation days are held by the Faculty Student Representative Committee, where the new Master students will join small groups of other new Master students. Each group will have tutors, who will coach the group and answer questions concerning students’ life in Aachen, the University, etc. |

| October 17th, 2008 |
| An information event will be held for the first-semester MCE students by the coordinator at the IND. After the event, a Welcome Party for all new Master students of the faculty will take place in the faculty building next to the IND. |

| For the third-semester MCE students, the registration for the seminar will take place in room 4G at the IND at 1.30 p.m. |

| The winter semester 2008/09 has officially started. | March 3rd, 2008 |
| The online application for winter semester 2008 is closed now and the selection process has been started. Applicants will be informed about their status as soon as the selection committee has finalized their decision. This is expected to be in the end of March/beginning of April. |

| February 25th, 2008 |
Prof. Vary, coordinating professor of the RWTH Master of Communications Engineering programme, is currently holding a guest lecture in Thailand at the Thai German Graduate School, a cooperation between RWTH Aachen and King Monkut's Institute of Technology North Bangkok, which offers Master's degree programmes according to the RWTH model.
In best RWTH Aachen tradition, Thai German Graduate School is constantly working to improve both their range of courses offered and the quality of the existing courses. Hence, Prof. Vary and Mr. Hoelper, the senior counselor of Communications Engineering at RWTH Aachen, are also in Bangkok to share experiences and offer support in organisational and
technical matters. |

| January 9th, 2008 |
| From January 17th to January 20th, 2008, the joint Diplomacourse and Mastercourse projectseminar "Visions in Mobile Communications: UMTS, 4G, and Beyond" will take place for the second time. |

| Dr. Rüland, Deputy Secretary General of the DAAD (German Academic Exchange Service) will be visiting RWTH Aachen University to meet with scholarship holders who have initiated studies at the University in Winter Semester 2006. All DAAD scholarhsip holders are invited to participate in the meeting which will take place in Lecture Hall I in the Main Building (Templergraben 55) on November 30th, at 4:00 p.m. |

| RWTH Aachen was awarded a Graduate School and two Excellence Clusters from the federal government of Germany today. We are especially proud that the only Excellence Cluster in the field of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science within Germany has been awarded to RWTH Aachen University. Research within the new Excellence Cluster "UMIC" (Ultra High-Speed Mobile Information and Communication, http://www.umic.rwth-aachen.de/ ) will be funded with 6.5 Million EUR per year from the government and all important companies in the field of communications have signed letters of intent to further support this new research center. |

As part of the Events for International Students, RWTH Service Center organizes a walking-tour to Lousberg. The route starts from Westpark and leads to Müschpark (Lousberg), where there will be a picnic.
